So, if you haven’t heard Brian McKnight managed to become a trending topic on Twitter late Monday night, therefore making himself relevant again and all because of his “adult mixtape”. I’ll admit it, I haven’t really given much thought about the R&B crooner in a long time and he is being talked about, so kudos to him. But I can’t say I’m really a fan of his method.
I couldn’t even get through the entire video the first time. In fact, this tweeter sums it up best: @TrapperJawn_MD: “This Brian McKnight shit really IS like walking in your parents doing the sex. what has been seen can not be unseen”. And that is exactly how I felt, and maybe that is contradictory. I’m aware music has become more and more explicit, yet I hardly blink an eye if Trey Songz, Chris Brown or any number of rappers sings about our most private of parts. But, for some reason, when Brian McKnight did it, (the man that serenaded Gina when Martin finally decided to propose), it just didn’t feel right. And there are just some people, some artists, we expect to be better than the status quo. I don’t want Brian to show me how my p—-y works, let alone sing about it in a high falsetto. The most puzzling detail about this whole thing is whether or not it was a joke. There seem to be some people that immediately understood it was a parody. However, to many others, and myself he seemed genuine in his effort. Time will tell if he was serious or just having a laugh, but one thing is for sure, he’s definitely got us talking about him!
If you live under a rock and have yet to see to the video, here you go. You’ve been warned.
